Healthcare is personal. I've known that my whole career.
I'm Kristin Wortman — a registered nurse, a small-town Nebraska native, and the founder of Wortman Strategies, LLC. After more than 30 years in healthcare — as a nurse, a clinical educator, and a patient advocate — I found myself drawn to a question I kept hearing from employers and individuals alike: Why are benefits so hard to understand?
The answer, in my experience, is rarely the coverage itself. It's the gap between what's written in a plan document and what happens when someone needs care. It's the moment an employee realizes their new plan works differently than they expected. It's the person turning 65 who doesn't know where to start.
That gap is exactly why I launched Wortman Strategies.

My background spans clinical nursing, diabetes & cardiometabolic education, medical devices, and pharmaceutical education.
I worked directly with patients managing chronic conditions, alongside healthcare providers building care plans, and with organizations trying to close the gap between clinical knowledge and real-world outcomes.
That foundation shapes everything I do in the benefits space. I don't just explain plan options. I help people understand how those options connect to the care they need.
I'm also the mother of a child with Type 1 diabetes. I've navigated insurance coverage not just as a professional, but as a parent trying to make sure my family had access to what they needed. That perspective never leaves me.
Wortman Strategies is based in Lincoln, Nebraska, and serves employers and individuals across Nebraska and Iowa. I'm a licensed insurance producer and a committed advocate for the people I work with, before, during, and long after enrollment.
